Dag van de Componist: Night Shift

The audience becomes performer

Shakespeare‘s Midsummer Night’s Dream forms the starting
point of Night Shift. Here the artisans, a group of
amateur actors, come together to rehearse a play. From
this fact, a play within a play, the idea for
Night Shift emerged: a public rehearsal used to develop
a performance unique to each place, time or presentation.
Composer Cathy Milliken invites everyone to be
curious and participate during Composer Day
(Dag van de Componist). The Australian Milliken
makes musical theatre, chamber music, radio plays,
installations, theater and film music.
Night Shift was commissioned by CONNECT, The Audience
as Artist, an initiative supported by ART MENTOR
FOUNDATION LUCERNE in collaboration with London
Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Asko|Schönberg and
Remix Ensemble.
