The musicality of thinking minds
‘Tell me what makes this life worth living’, that’s how Wim Kayzer started his conversations with artists, scientists and philosophers in his television series ‘Van de schoonheid en de troost’. After rediscovering the series from 2000, Josse De Pauw knew he wanted to do something with this. For Rhapsody, he joins forces with LOD-composer Frederik Neyrinck, with whom he has worked together once before for ‘Zolang hij niet zichzelve kent’ (2017). Rhapsody will be an ode to the thinking mind, the doubt and the not-knowing, because you don’t always have to understand everything to feel that it’s about something important.
Text excerpts from the interviews with Jane Goodall, Georges Steiner, Vladimir Ashkenazy, John M. Coetzee, Karel Appel & Edward Witten from ‘Van de schoonheid en de troost’ byWim Kayzer.
