Conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw

Louis Andriessen is the most prominent Dutch composer of the past half-century. He is also a leading pedagogue. As teacher of composition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Andriessen took colleagues from all over the world under his wing. In this concert they pay tribute to their former mentor with new works.

The highly acclaimed Australian composer Mary Finsterer presents a brand-new work. The Dutch composer and poet Rozalie Hirs has written a concerto for two harps and ensemble. Pete Harden, representing a new generation of eclectic composers/musicians, has created a piece inspired by Frank Zappa’s work. Martijn Padding has composed the cello concerto Last Words especially for Asko|Schönberg and the soloist Doris Hochscheid.
