Festival REINBERT (III)

Grisey and Messiaen

The from origin Canadese but in The Netherlands living soprano Barbara Hannigan performs the solopart in the last work by Gérard Grisey, four songs reflecting on the dead. Also on this programme Messiaen’s Eclairs sur l’au-delà, his latest large-scale composition commissioned by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for their 150th birthday.

A great experience: 130 musicians on stage. According to the widdow of the composer, the work has to be consedered as “a series of meditations about the hereafter and the heavenly Jerusalem”.
