Training, transmitting, stimulating new forms, bringing together young creators from different artistic disciplines, shaking up the codes of the classical repertoire of opera, this is the ambition of the Totem(s) Academy initiated to open concrete spaces for research in the field of today’s music and musical theatre. The residencies at the Chartreuse between young authors and composers awaken elective affinities, crossed curiosities that lead to companionships by duo for the creation of a common project of chamber opera or musical theater.
Five young playwrights and five young composers formed a duo to imagine five small forms. Accompanied by the musicians of the prestigious Dutch ensemble Asko|Schönberg, singers and actors, they present their creation in progress. Yannaël Quenel seized the lyrics of the five authors to compose a small electroacoustic musical piece.
