Ayres wrote a new work based on Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony, which premiered in the Muziekgebouw in September 2024. This work will be reprised at Oranjewoud. Richard Ayres creates an intimate sound biography with sound recordings of ‘things that Bruckner touched’.
Islands is a typical Ayres composition: imaginative, humorous, eclectic, and colourful. At Oranjewoud, Asko|Schönberg will present Entry Island from this idiosyncratic performance. Ayres created these non-existent islands as part of his thought experiment prompted by the COVID pandemic and climate crisis.
Oranjewoud Festival is an accessible, versatile and stimulating musicfestival in the Oranjewoud Park near Heerenveen (Friesland).
