TROMP Opening Night: Reichs Music for 18 Musicians & 100 dansers

Reich’s hypnotic masterwork

Composed in 1976, Music for 18 musicians signified Reichs’s definitive breakthrough.

It has received a rapt reception whenever it is played, even being performed to a swaying audience in a packed Lowlands tent in 2013. It is hard to sit still when listening to Reich’s hypnotic masterwork. The French choreographer Sylvain Groud leads a hundred dancers from the hall to the stage, including amateurs and professionals of all ages. The work has never previously been performed in the Netherlands in this setting! It promises to be an exciting opening to TROMP Percussion Eindhoven, the international percussion competition held every two years.
