An immersive musical ritual on the threshold between dream and trance
Guided by the alchemical visions of late antiquity, the music follows a ritual of visions in which the protagonist, Soror Aurum, finds herself immersed. The result is a distinctive fusion of influences, rangingfrom Fields of the Nephilim and Tigran Hamasyan to Bang on a Can and Michael Gordon. Layered vocals and intense grooves propel the piece’s immersive trance – born on the threshold between progressive metal and contemporary music.
Cellist, vocalist and composer Maya Fridman initiates Soror Aurum together with Het Muziek, featuring Florian Magnus Maier on electric guitar and vocals, Dirge on percussion, vocals and electronics, Joey Marijs on percussion, and Zalán Berta on bass guitar. During the creative process, Fridman was supported musically by Maier; together, they form the creative core of Soror Aurum. In collaboration with Het Muziek, Pandora’s musical box will be opened in an exciting and unexpected way.
A co-production of Het Muziek and Maya Fridman Foundation. Made possible in part by the Performing Arts Fund, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts.
