New-music summercourse in Amsterdam
The Andriessen Academy is an intensive week, organized by Het Muziek, for young for music makers/performers/ creators who want to deepen, question, and sharpen their music practice. During a week, you will work, write, play, research, and experiment.
Over the course of 7 days maker/performers will dive into a program of activities in the spirit of late Dutch composer Louis Andriessen; whose music, philosophy, political engagement and interdisciplinary practice have influenced music makers around the world. Ten selected makers will focus on creating and performing a short site-specific piece for the surroundings of a late 19th century fortress.
The makers will be coached in their process with a program of activities connected to the legacy of Andriessen’s music, Het Muziek’s own music programs, lectures and workshops centered around performance, interdisciplinary approaches, DIY working methods and community building.
Het Muziek (formerly known as Asko|Schönberg) is the groundbreaking ensemble for new music. Shaping the music of today through high-profile music projects, unexpected partners, crossovers between disciplines and an open mind. Both the top collection of the great 20th-century composers and the very latest 21st-century works are performed. Het Muziek performs everywhere. From concert halls and open-air festivals to theatres; from its home base in Amsterdam to far beyond national borders. Always with the aim of inspiring a wide audience and inviting them to discover new sounds.
