Three finalists. Three days. Three new artistic worlds.
TROMP 2026 Final & Award Ceremony
What happens when three exceptional percussionists spend three days collaborating with composers, musicians, a dramaturg, and a visual artist? On 27 September, TROMP presents the result: three unique 35-minute recital programmes featuring new works, live collaboration, and world premieres.
The TROMP Percussion Final is not a traditional competition in which performers present the same repertoire side by side. Instead, each finalist develops a distinct artistic universe in close collaboration with Het Muziek, Japanese composer Malika Kishino, Scottish dramaturg and theatre-maker Genevieve Murphy, and visual artist Jurjen Alkema.
At the heart of each programme is a new composition by Malika Kishino for solo percussion and ensemble. In addition, Genevieve Murphy creates new material tailored to the personality, imagination, and artistic voice of each finalist. The result is three entirely different performances that reveal not only how an artist performs, but also how they think, create, and communicate.
During this extraordinary afternoon, an international community of artists, presenters, music lovers, and industry professionals gathers to experience the latest developments in contemporary percussion. At Muziekgebouw Eindhoven three new works unfold in real time – a rare opportunity to witness the creative process up close and experience the future of percussion as it takes shape.
